It's not without it's flaws, but it was one of the better games that I've played over the last few years, especially if you like narrative-driven cinematic style games. Its like a linear open world, so yes it has some free roam elements. There's some locations like a huge lake where you can freely ride around and go places/find things, and there's also times when the path only has one way, with things to find if you explore the area as you go.
